The Vulgar Geniuses will be premiering an art installation “𝘾𝙄𝙍𝘾𝙇𝙀 𝙏𝙄𝙈𝙀: 𝘼𝙉 𝘼𝙉𝙏𝙄𝙍𝘼𝘾𝙄𝙎𝙏 𝙇𝙄𝘽𝙍𝘼𝙍𝙔 at the SOWHAT! ARTS gallery in FAVO on May 5th & 6th between 5PM - 9PM.

𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙑𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖 𝙎𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙝’𝙨 “𝘾𝙄𝙍𝘾𝙇𝙀 𝙏𝙄𝙈𝙀: 𝘼𝙉 𝘼𝙉𝙏𝙄𝙍𝘼𝘾𝙄𝙎𝙏 𝙇𝙄𝘽𝙍𝘼𝙍𝙔” is an evocative multisensory installation that transports visitors to their childhood memories of reading circles in elementary classrooms and libraries. Participants will join Miss Smith on the 𝘾𝙞𝙧𝙘𝙡𝙚 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙍𝙪𝙜, where she will read from books guests have chosen from the exhibit’s library.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 will allow guests access to audio & visual archival author interviews from the Vulgar Geniuses Podcast. The writers speak on work that centers on fictional worlds of diverse character-driven narratives-others will examine the reality in which Black, Indigenous, Asian, Hispanic, Latinx, and Queer communities are burdened by oppressive systematic structures.

This installation invites visitors to engage in conversations around antiracism, equity, and inclusion in reading to protect the freedom to read as widespread campaigns forged are to prevent children from learning how to foster a framework centered on being antiracist.
